Richard Tersoo Mnenga,is not just qualified to become the next governor of Benue State 2023 by virtue of the fact that he is a youth within his early 40s but because he is refined,kind,selfless and hardworking, ones whose action is worthy to emulate. He is an influencer and a man of the youth and loved by all and sundry across party lines

Richard Tersoo Mnenga who is a member representing North Central at UBEC is a true definition of humility,charisma and purposefulness of life. He is very committed and sincere in all his dealings even with his style of politics and representation at the national level

One could hurriedly start wondering how a very young man like him has managed to acquire huge relevance at National politics and is featured among those who make decisions with the presidency on country issues just to go through his history and discover it could only take hardwork,commitment, patience and the grace of God

Richard Tersoo Mnenga, who is very young and brimful of ideals, started activism in his 20s and with his commitment, patience,sincerity and hard work, he has got many unbeatable achievements to his credit

Mnenga is one of the few young men who have demonstrated passion to selflessly contribute their quota to the development of the state and country at large

As Board Member representing North Central at UBEC who doubles as member of governing council, federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa state where he was recently appointed chairman of search committee for a VC selection, Richard Tersoo Mnenga influenced lots of lecturing and other jobs to Benue sons and daughters, he has also influenced numerous projects to North Central with Benue taking 50% of the projects,he has employed a lot even outside his scope using connections and his personal relationship with the president. He had the chances of dolarizing these appointments and projects in liquid cash for his personal use but his pureness and meekness did not allow him to reason that way, this is a true manifestation of a leader who is selfless,youthful and useful

HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY OF RICHARD TERSOO MNENGA

Comrade Richard Tersoo Mnenga was born in Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State where both his parents were teachers.

After his primary education at Anendah Memorial Nursery and Primary School, he proceeded to the famous St. Andrews Secondary School Adikpo for his post primary education, and thereafter, went to the Bayero University Kano where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.

His quest for higher education took him to the University of Basel, Switzerland where he obtained a masters degree in Peace and Conflicts Transformation with flying colours. He is currently a law student of Baze university, Abuja.

He started active national politics at a very tender age when he joined other patriotic Nigerians to participate and support the activities of Campaign for Democracy CD, a pro – democracy group that fought military dictatorship in Nigeria. 

As a result of the courageous manner at which Alhaji M.D. Yusufu challenged the military self-succession bid by coming out to contest the presidency against General Sani Abacha, he later championed a forum, Youth Solidarity for MD Yusufu where he was the National Coordinator.

Following the return of democracy in Nigeria in 1999, Richard joined forces with like-minds to form the Concerned Nigeria Democratic Youth Forum and was made National President. 

The forum organized numerous seminars nationwide encouraging Nigerians to participate in the electioneering process in the face of apathy by many who doubted the sincerity due to their previous experiences. 

In 2003, he was made the Benue State Coordinator of Youth Awareness Group for Rimi 2003, the non-partisan youth wing of Abubakar Rimi presidential campaign organization. However, Rimi’s inability to get the PDP presidential ticket took him to the Buhari Organization TBO where he has pitched tent till today.

In 2007 general election, he was the National Organizing Secretary, youth wing of The Buhari Organization before the dissolution of the body. 

In 2011, he was the National Organizing Secretary, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC and served in the media and publicity, North Central, Contact and mobilization committees of the CPC presidential campaign team.

In the 2015 general election, he served in the media and communication directorate of the APC presidential campaign council. 

Richard has authored books and has written many articles in national dailies and is a registered researcher with national archives Kaduna. 

One of his foremost writeups is the comprehensive biography of late Chief J.S. Tarka whose foreword is written by former executive president of the federal republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Shehu Shagari. 

In 2012, the Universal Peace Federation in collaboration with Youth Federation for World Peace bestowed on him the ‘’Peace Ambassador’’ award. The Mbaiwen traditional council of Nanev in Kwande Local Government also turbaned him as the ‘’Onov Ikyundu U Mbaiwen’’ in 2016.

The UN POLAC also appointed him a peace ambassador in 2019, making him an international peace advocate. He has received so many awards from different Churches and groups, especially youth and students organisations. 

He is currently a member of governing council, Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa state and the board member representing North Central, Universal Basic Education, UBEC. 

Richard has vast knowledge about Tiv, Benue and Nigerian history and politics. His association with many prominent and highly placed Nigerians has equipped him a lot, he has the required exposure needed for governance. 

Even though he is not holding an executive or elective position, he has continued to influence the appointment of many Benue indigenes in various federal agencies. 

One of his noticeable qualities is that he is a very cool headed and refined young man that has tremendous respect for elders, he has never been associated with any scandalous or irresponsible behavior.
