Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development meets with stakeholders in Kogi State

The Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in collaboration with Kogi State Ministry of solid minerals and Natural Resources organized a stakeholders meeting at the Glass House of Kogi State Government House on Monday 22nd February, 2021 to acquaint relevant stakeholders about the Gold Processing Plant that will be situated in Mopa-Amuro LGA of Kogi State. 

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development Mrs. Akinlade Oluwatoyin hinted that Kogi has been selected for the North Central Zone for the Gold processing plant, she added that the project is to be commissioned In June 2021.

While address relevant stakeholders in the mining industry she stated some of the benefits to be gotten as miners from Kogi State. These benefit are not limited to the following:
Artisinal Miners will be grouped into corporatives societies and as such will allow them get mining licenses, BOI Loans, Create Market Access to sell mined produce, it will also help to process raw materials into finished goods.
The Governor of the state Alh. Yahaya Bello, who was represented by the deputy governor appreciates the Permanent Secretary for bringing to Kogi State this loudable project and promised that the plant and the staff will get 100%  security support from the state. Adding that the governor is a lover of security and as such will do as he has promised and the issue of securing both life's and property in the state.

JDA National President Chief Ajiboye Bonibade appreciates the ministry for inviting and recognizing Jakura Community as a critical stakeholder in the mining sector and hope for more recognition and participation in the future.

Also present during the meeting is the Olu of Oworo who was represented by Mall. Kasim Adoga Mahmoud.
